The Northern Dimension Future Forum 2020 鈥淐ombatting COVID-19 in the Northern Dimension Area鈥 was held on the 3rd of December as two virtual events. The Forum gathered together a wide range of experts and stakeholders to discuss health and societal implications of the COVID-19 epidemic in the Northern Dimension area and beyond. The Northern Dimension Institute (NDI) organized the Forum in cooperation with the Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Wellbeing (NDPHS).

Xfold Imaging Oy, founded by researchers from Aalto University and the University of Helsinki, has developed a nanocoated glass slide that makes microscopes dozens of times more accurate. It enables the identifying of coronavirus from a sample up to one day earlier compared to current technology.
