Pinja Helasuo, preparing for Wappu: We are in this together

According to physics student Pinja Helasuo, the most challenging thing in daily life during COVID-19 has been tolerating spending all the time in the same room. The Guild of Physics and Helasuo鈥檚 closest friends and family have helped her cope. Helasuo was also involved in launching the WappuApu fundraising campaign to prevent student loneliness.

Helsinki would need at least 5,000 intermediate-deep geothermal wells to meet the energy demands in district heating 鈥 researchers call for more studies

Geothermal energy wells are being explored as a way to provide district heating to cities and suburbs. A new study suggests that fields of wells connected to existing heating systems, instead of individual wells, should be studied.

Key problems regarding equality have been recognized - A pilot to promote solutions

As a result of Aalto participating in the Equal career paths (NOW!) project, Learning Services are piloting a service concept where students share their experiences on e.g. working in teams and teachers get to walk in the students' shoes. The expected outcome is that the participants become more aware of their unconscious biases, learn how their behavior affects other people,聽and ideate on how the experiences of the students in (gender) minority can be better acknowledged in teaching.聽
